Hay, veteran school teacher, died Tuesday, May 16, at his home on Thomas Street, Meyersdale, after an extended illness. He was born July 22, 1869. His wife, Mrs. Mary Cox Hay and the following children survive: Mrs. Henry Newitt, Louisville, Kentucky; John and Robert, Detroit, Michigan; James of Jerome; Carl, Moween; Mrs. Paul Wagner, Central City; Mrs. Harvey Bowman, Baltimore, and William in the U.S. Navy. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, in Zion Lutheran Church, Dr. R. M. Kunkelberger, pastor, officiating. Interment in Union Cemetery, under the direction of R. Reich and Son. Mr. Hay was a teacher of township schools in the southern part of Somerset County for many years, working between school terms at various kinds of labor.
