Heath, Meyersdale, Expires at 52 [photo] Meyersdale - The Rev. Marvin E. Heath, 52, pastor of Amity United Church of Christ, died Tuesday morning at his home. The Rev. Heath had served the local church since December 1959. Born July 11, 1909, in Rochester Mills, the Rev. Heath was a son of Mrs. Myrtle (Young) Heath, who resided with him, and the late Albert Heath. He spent his early life in Indiana County. In 1939 he was graduated from Western Theological Seminary of the Presbyterian Church, Pittsburgh, and was the last pastor ordained by the former Westmoreland Classis of the Evangelical & Reformed Church. During his student days and until June 1942, the Rev. Heath served the Vandergrift-Pine Run Charge of the Evangelical & Reformed Church. He served as pastor of the Mt. Pleasant Charge from 1942 until 1956 when he accepted a call to Old First Church, Philadelphia, where he served until he accepted the pastorate here. He was married in 1940 to the former Arlene Vinton. She is a former teacher at Elders Ridge High School. At the time of his death, the pastor was president of Meyersdale Ministerium, vice president of United Church of Christ's Regional Ministerium, a member of the board of directors of the church's Greenville (Pa.) Orphans Home, and a member of the bylaws committee of the church in the region. Johnstown Tribune-Democrat, April 25, 1962 [H0652] HEATH The Rev. In addition to mother, survived by widow, former Arlene Vinton, and daughter, Elizabeth Ann, at home; also a brother, Albert, Longview, Wash., and sister, Mrs. Leroy Marks, Harwick, Pa. Friends received at Price Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Service at 2 p.m. Thursday at Amity United Church of Christ, the Rev. Dr. Harvey Black of Greensburg, president of the Pittsburgh Synod. Interment, Reformed Cemetery, Meyersdale.
