She was born in Allegheny Township, Somerset County, on July 9, 1885, the daughter of the late John W. and Emma (Reitz) Tipton. Preceded in death by her husband, Herman F., one daughter, three brothers and two sisters. Survived by these children: Donald, Berlin; Mrs. Victor D. (Nona) Behn, Glenrock, N.J.; Mrs. James S. (Faye) Regan, Washington, D.C.; Mrs. Lola Wood, Silver Springs, Md.; Roy, Washington, D.C.; Robert J., Beltsville, Md.; Mrs. Richard (Mary Lou) Koch, Potomac, Md.; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also, a brother Freeman Tipton, Meyersdale; and a sister Mrs. Clyde (Elizabeth) Bowman, Somerset. She was a member of St. Paul's English Lutheran Church, Washington D.C., and was the first president of the ladies auxiliary, Berlin Volunteer Fire Department, organized a 1927. Friends will be received in the Johnson and Son Funeral Home, Berlin, after 7 p.m. Wednesday (today) where services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. George E. Buechner officiating.
