Heichel, 89, Church of the Brethren Home, formerly of Brotherton and Windber, died Feb. 14, 1994, at Windber Hospital. Born Sept. 28, 1904, in Karthaus, Pa., son of the late Joseph A. and Augustus (Montgomery) Heichel. Preceded in death by his first wife, the former Hazel Wissinger, and second wife, the former Ruth Landers; son Robert; three brothers and two sisters. Survived by these children: Lois, widow of Paul Hoffer, Windber; Phyllis, wife of James R. Martin, Loudon, Tenn.; and Ronald R., Slatington, Pa.; also survived by 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Brother of Nora, widow of Fred Grening, Richland Township; also survived by brother-in-law, Robert, married to the former Zelma Faust, and sister-in-law, Louise, widow of Alex Nagy, both of Windber, and also a number of nieces and nephews. Member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Roxbury. Former employee of Callen's Bakery, Windber, and Lloyd's Bakery, Somerset. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Meek Funeral Home, Inc., Windber, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, with the Rev. Dave Evans officiating.
