Heim Found Dead in the Family Car Had Been Ill For Several Months but was Believed Recovering Many persons in the Meyersdale community were shocked to learn of the sudden death on Monday of Mrs. Jane Ruth Heim, wife of Dallas W. Heim, retail manager of the Swank Hardware Co., in Johnstown. Mr. and Mrs. Heim and children were residents of Meyersdale for several years while Mr. Heim managed the P. J. Cover & Son store, prior to the arrival here of the present manager, Mr. W. A. Allshouse. Mrs. Heim had been in ill health for several months, but professional care was believed to have had her well on the way to recovery. She returned to her home in Southmont about two weeks ago and appeared to be in fine spirits and recuperating satisfactorily. Upon returning to his home at noon, Monday, Mr. Heim found his wife's lifeless body in the family car, in the garage near their home. A hose from an electric sweeper was attached to the exhaust pipe and was used to direct the carbon monoxide fumes into the closed automobile. Mrs. Heim is survived by her husband and two children, Dallas W., Jr. at home, and Florence, a student at Slippery Rock State Teachers College. She was the daughter of Robert E. and Catherine Lees of Twin Rocks. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at the Henderson Funeral Home by Rev. R. Parker Andrews. Interment was in the Grandview Cemetery at Johnstown. Meyersdale Republican, February 26, 1942
