  HEIST
  
  Charles Robert Heist, 84, of Friedens, died March 23, 2003 at his
  residence.  Born Feb. 14, 1919 in Patton, Cambria County, a son of Reuben
  Robert and Martha Anna (Hoffman) Heist.  Preceded in death by parents;
  wife, the former Mae Pauling Zeigler who died March 12, 2002; two brothers,
  Sam Heist and Walter Heist; and sister, Helen Smoker.  Survived by children,
  Robert C. Heist, married to the former Sylvia Vance of Sewickley, James R.
  Heist, married to the former Shelby Bryant of Dorr, Mich., Mrs. Donald
  (Joyce Mae) Hansrote of Ellerslie, Md., Larry A. Heist, married to the
  former Judy Miller of Friedens and Barbara Jean Heist of Friedens; nine
  grandchildren and five great-granchildren; sisters and brothers: Mrs.
  Mildren DeHaven of Mt. Pleasant, John Heist of Somerset, Clark Heist of
  Somerset, Richard Heist of Somerset, sister-in-law Dorothy (Zeigler) Heist
  of Leetsdale and brother-in-law Elmer Smoker of Christianna.  Member of
  Listie Grace Brethren Church.  Veteran U.S. Army World War II served as
  corporal.  Life member of Listie fire department.  Employed as a welder for
  J&J Bodies for many years and PBS Coals, retiring in 1983 with nine years
  service.  Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the
  Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home.  Service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday
  at the Listie Grace Brethren Church, Listie.  The Rev. Ronzil L. Jarvis
  officiating.  No viewing at the church.  Interment Somerset County Memorial
  Park.  Contributions may be sent to Somerset "In Touch" Hospice, 1590 N.
  Center Ave., Somerset, Pa. 15501
