Heist, 65, of Alexandria, Va., formerly of Somerset, passed March 23, 2001 at Inova Fairfax Hospital. Born Aug. 16, 1935, in Indian Head, daughter of the late Ruby J. Weimer. Preceded in death by mother and son, Michael Heist. Survived by husband of 46 years; Richard L. Heist Sr.; daughters, Nancy Heist of Woodbridge, Va., and Tammy Higgins of Alexandria; and son, Richard, married to Judy Heist Jr. of Lancaster; also grandchildren, Sabrina and Jess Higgins, Abby Heist and Richard M. Heist, and step-children, Melissa Higgins, Becky, Brooke and Kyla Younkin and Amanda Daily. She was an accountant and bookkeeper for Traffic World/Thompson Press, Washington, D.C., and later vice president of Inspection Enterprise, Alexandria, which she co-owned with her husband. Member of the Grace Brethren Church of Alexandria. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, Somerset, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Rev. Kenneth Worley officiating.
