Hentschel, 65, of Grantsville, Md., died Saturday, Jan. 28, 1989, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va. He was born June 29, 1923 in Milford, Mass., the son of Blanche L. (Boone) Hentschel, Claremont, N.H., and the late Walter D. Hentschel. Besides his mother, survivors include his widow, Mary E. (Stanton) Hentschel; two sons, Ronald P. Hentschel, Grantsville, Md.; and Ricky W. Hentschel, Niland, Calif.; one stepson, David W. Yommer, Dauphin Island, Alabama; one step-daughter, Darlene Y. Gallardo, Torrance, Calif.; four brothers, Wallace Hentschel and Leland Hentschel, both of Claremont, N.H.; A. Lloyd Hentschel, Chandler, Ariz.; and F. William Hentschel, North Attleboro, Mass.; and nine grandchildren. He was a retired quality control inspector for Hughes Aircraft in El Segundo, Calif. He was an infantry staff sergeant with the Army in World War II in the European, African and Middle East theatres, and was awarded the Purple Heart after being wounded in action. He was a member of Grantsville Post 214, American Legion, and was of the Protestant faith. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted there Saturday at 2 p.m. by Pastor Louise Knotts. Interment will be in the Grantsville Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by Grantsville American Legion Post 214. The Republic, February 2, 1989 [H0874]
