Born Oct. 3, 1903, in Austria-Hungry, daughter of Andrew and Mary (Gaspar) Chonko. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Andrew; daughter, Ethel, and son, Andrew, killed at Iwo Jima, World War II. Survived by these children: Mrs. Robert (Anne) Stewart, Himrod, N.Y.; George, married to former Ruth Karwat, Roseville, Mich.; David, married to former Betty Cratchlow, Walled Lake, Mich.; and Mrs. Judy Wojcik, Grosse Point Farms, Mich.; also 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Sister of: The Rev. Michael Chonko, Youngstown, Ohio; John Chonko, Connecticut; George Chonko, East Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. Sue Savel, Mt. Clemens, Mich.; and Mrs. Elizabeth Cerner, Bloomfield Hills, Mich. Member of St. Gregory's Catholic Church, Macdonaldton, and St. Francis Third Order Fraternity. Mass of the Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Gregory's Church, the Rev. Samuel Tomaselli officiating. Interment, Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Detroit, on Friday. Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday (today) at Johnson-Kuhlman Funeral home, where Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Masses in her memory would be appreciated.
