  BESSIE HERRING
  
    Mrs. Bessie E. Herring, 80, died Jan. 5 in Cuppett-Weeks Nursing
  Home, Oakland, Md.
    Born at Grantsville, Mrs. Herring was a daughter of the late Grant
  and Louisa (Bowser) Wiley.  Her husband, Calvin Herring, died in 1927.
    Mrs. Herring was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Baltimore.
    Surviving are a son, Blaine Herring, Baltimore, Md.; a daughter,
  Mrs. Thelma Slane, Grantsville; a brother, Dewey Wiley, Elizabeth,
  Pa., a sister, Mrs. Mary McKenzie, Grantsville; six grandchildren and
  five great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held at the Newman Funeral Home with Rev.
  David E. Fetter officiating.  Interment, Grantsville Cemetery.
