"Hattie" Herring, 77, Somerset, died May 23, 1990, at her residence. Born April 23, 1913, in Leisenring, Pa., daughter of late Harry Hamilton and Marie (Festog) Snider. Preceded in death by husband, J. Edward Herring; brother, Harry H. "Tanky" Snider, and sister, Waunita Sherwin. Survived by these children: Walter E. "Pat" Herring, married to former Patricia Stutzman, Somerset, and Ms. Peggy Murray, Somerset; 4 grandchildren-Patrick and Eddie Herring and Jodie and Chad Murray. Sister of Mrs. Thelma "Ted" Baker, Somerset; Mrs. Richard (Luella) DeWitt, Somerset R. D. 5; William J. Snider, Smithers, W. Va.; Mrs. Bodes (Lois) Shaulis, Somerset RD 4; Francis E. Snider, Orlando, Fla.; Mrs. Kenneth (Alice Marie) Leininger, Lewisberry, Pa., and David L. Snider, Des Plaines, Ill. 1931 graduate of Somerset High School. 1933 graduate of Lock Haven University. Former co-owner of Herring Motor Co. Was teacher and principal in Jenner Township Schools. Member of Grace United Methodist Church. Charter president of Somerset Soroptimist Club. Member of Trinity Chapter, Order of Eastern Star. Charter member of Somerset Chapter, American Cancer Society, and former member of Somerset School Board. Past president of American Legion Post 181 Auxiliary. Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, where service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Rev. Charles F. Olson officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park. Eastern Star service at 7 p.m. Friday at funeral home. Family suggests contributions to Somerset "In Touch" Hospice, 651 S.
