Born June 29, 1925, in Salisbury, the son of the late Chester and Olive (Ringler) Herring. Preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Clarence. Mr. Herring was a retired security guard at Somerset State Hospital. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a charter member of the Salisbury V.F.W. and member of the Salisbury American Legion. Member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the Salisbury fire department. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy E. (Gartner) Herring; one son, David Herring, Salisbury, and one sister, Evelyn Herring, Salisbury. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Newman Funeral Home Inc., 9168 Mason-Dixon Highway, Salisbury, where services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Dottie Herring Grew officiating. Interment will be in Salisbury Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to ÒIn TouchÓ Hospice.
