Born Jan. 26, 1940 in Puritan, Fayette County, he is the son of Millie (Dunmeyer) Hersh, Somerset and the late Harrison Hersh. He is preceded in death by his father, son David, and brother Nevin. He is survived by his mother; a very special and loving companion Peggy Reynolds; and his children Pam, married to Carl Kister; Tony, married to the former Tina Houpt; and Tina, married to John Ulmer, all of Somerset. He is also survived by his sisters Alice, married to Clark Singo Jr. and Connie Oester (and fiancˇ Jim Porter Jr.); grandchildren Bradley and Amber Kister, Nicole, Courtney and Clinton Hersh, and Roger and David Heining, all of Somerset; numerous nieces and nephews; sister-in-law JoAnn Hersh; and close friends, Ken Kline and Barry Beal. He was an active member of the FOE Aerie 1801 in Somerset. He was a retired bulldozer operator and auto mechanic who also drove trucks for Leiss Tool and Die in Somerset. He was an avid race car driver and fan and loved to spend time with his family and friends. He served six years in the service of our country as a tanker driver and personal driver for Gen. Henry Fluck. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Miller Funeral Home, Somerset, where a service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday. The Rev. Roy Worsham officiating. Interment at Union Cemetery in Meyersdale with military honors by the Somerset County Honor Guard.
