Born in Meyersdale, on Nov. 27, 1908, he was the son of the late Adam and Martha (Sipple) Hersh. He was a former employee of the Celanese, retired from the Astor Cab Company, was a member of St. Mark's United Church of Christ, Loyal Order of Moose and life member and golden age Eagle of Fraternal Order Aerie of Eagles 245. Surviving are his widow, Hazel Marie (Lowery) Hersh; three daughters: Mrs. Martha Lee McComas, LaVale, Md.; Mrs. Judy M. Blacker and Mrs. Lois Ann Shambaugh, of Cumberland, Md.; one step-brother, John I. Hersh, Cumberland; one sister, Mrs. Martha Werner, Cumberland; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Friends were received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home where services were conducted Monday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Harold Shaffer. Interment, Hillcrest Burial Park.
