He had been ill for a long time. He was born December 14, 1860, the son of Henry and Dortha (Horne) Herwig, natives of Germany. His wife preceded him in death about 17 years ago. He is survived by four sons: Elmer F., Meyersdale R.D. 3, Edward J., Meyersdale; Robert D., Friedens, and John R., Stoystown, and by four daughters: Mrs. George Albury of Key West, Fla.; Mrs. Albert Gauntz, Garrett; Mrs. C. J. Black and Mrs. William Faidley, Pittsburgh. One son, Samuel Herwig, died February 25, 1946 Also surviving are one brother, William Herwig, of Akron, O., and one sister, Mrs. Margaret Glotfelty of Salisbury, and 36 grandchildren and 24 great- grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Amity Reformed Church, Rev. Nelson C. Brown, officiating. Interment in Union Cemetery under the direction of W. C. Price & Son.
