  HERWIG
   
    John R. Herwig, 88, Elyria, Ohio, formerly of Meyersdale, died Feb. 28,
  1988 at Elyria Memorial Hospital.  Born Jan. 15, 1900 in Meyersdale, son of
  the late Conrad and Della (Bockes) Herwig.  Preceded in death by wife,
  Margaret.  Survived by these children: Jacob, Eugene, Dale and Mrs. Rosemary
  Hyer, all of Elyria; Glenn, North Ridgeville Ohio; and John Jr., Rocky
  River, Ohio, 24 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.  Also a sister,
  Mrs. Ethel Williamson, Mission, Texas.  Retired employee of Bendix Corp.
  Member of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church.  Friends will be received from 2-4
  and 7-9 p.m., Tuesday at Leckemby Funeral Home, Meyersdale, where service
  will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. Rev. Albert Valentine officiating.  Interment,
  Union Cemetery.
