Herwig, aged 44, died at 6:15 o'clock Monday morning, Feb. 25, at his home at Trans-Meyersdale. He had been employed as a coal miner. Born Sept. 4, 1901, in Somerset County, he was a son of Conrad Hetrick Herwig and the late Delila (Bockes) Herwig. Surviving are his widow, the former Isoline Wiland; his father, who resides in Meyersdale; a son, William C., at home, and three daughters, Virginia and Vivian, both at home, and Mrs. William Alvey, Washington, D.C. The deceased was a brother of Elmer F. Herwig, Meyersdale R.D. 3; Edward J., Meyersdale; Robert D. and John, both of Friedens; Mrs. C. J. Black and Mrs. William Faidley, both of Pittsburgh; Mrs. Albert Gauntz, Garrett, and Mrs. Edward Borland, Key West, Fla. He was a member of the Meyersdale Church of the Brethren. Funeral services will be conducted at the Herwig home on Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, by Rev. S. Loren Bowman. Interment will be made in Union Cemetery, under the direction of W. C. Price & Son.
