Hickenbottom, 59, of Acme, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2007. Born March 12, 1948, in Youngstown, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth "Betsy" (Meyers), of 28 years, who passed away January 19, 2007. Bill was the eldest son of Dolores G. Hickenbottom, of Greensburg, and the late Frank E. Hickenbottom. Surviving are his sister, Shirley Benedict, of Mt. Pleasant; and brother, Russ Hickenbottom, of Greensburg. He also leaves four stepchildren: Jean Marco and John Marco, both of Meyersdale; Beverly, wife of Barry Mishler, Woodsboro, Md. and Deborah, wife of Barry Gregg, Rices Landing; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was a 1967 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School. Bill was an Eagle Scout of Troop 84 in Austintown, Ohio. He proudly served with the Navy from 1967-1971 aboard aircraft carrier USS Forrestal. Bill was formerly employed by GM in Lordstown and Volkswagen in New Stanton. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Connellsville, the American Legion Post 301 of Connellsville and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. A brief memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at Green Ridge Memorial Park in Connellsville. Bill's wishes will be fulfilled in December when he will be buried at sea. He will be cast from the USS Theodore Roosevelt, which his nephew serves aboard. Arrangements entrusted to Auer Memorial Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Harrisburg.
