Hickman, 90, died June 16, 1987, at the Methodist Nursing Home, Mt. Lebanon. He was born in McKeesport, Oct. 31, 1896. Survived by his wife, Verna (Sechler); foster children, Ken Martin of Library, Pa.; Daniel Gordon of Bethel Park; Thomas, and Robert Gordon of Ontario, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He taught English for 42 1/2 years in the Pittsburgh and Dunbar Township school districts. Since retiring, he owned and operated Hickman Gardens, a Bethel Park nursery and landscaping business, and was a member of the Pennsylvania Nurseyman's Association. He was past president of the Men's Garden Club, an exposition, awards and honors judge of the National Daylily Society, a Boy Scout leader in Irwin, Knoxville and Bethel Park, a member of Epworth Methodist Church, McKeesport, an elder at Bethel Presbyterian Church and a member of the Outreach Commission. Friends will be received today and Thursday from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. at Harold E. Connell and Son Funeral Home, 5120 West Library Ave., Bethel Park. Services will be held at the Bethel Presbyterian Church Friday at 11 a.m. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park on Saturday at 11 a.m. Contributions may be sent to the International Heifer Project, P.O.
