Lebanon Township. She was born Jan. 19, 1908 in Upper Turkeyfoot Township, Somerset County, to Walter and Susan (Younkin) Sechler. Verna married Elton H. Hickman, June 2, 1938, who preceded her in death June 16, 1987. Her brother, Earl Sechler, also preceded her in death as did Tom, Robert and Daniel Gordon, all foster sons. She is survived by her niece, Earlene (Ed) O'Brien and nephews, Eldon (Loretta), Eugene (Bonnie) and Everett (Chris) Sechler, all of Somerset County, and foster son Kenneth G. (Judy) Martin. Also Patricia Gordon, widow of Don Gordon. Mrs. Hickman was a former owner of Hickman Gardens in Bethel Park. Visitation from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the David J. Henney Funeral Home, 6364 Liberty Road, (Route 88) Library. Funeral service at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Bethel Presbyterian Church, Bethel Park, with Rev. Rosemary Dodson officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park with Rev. Charles P. Martin officiating the graveside committal service.
