HICKOK News has been received here of the recent death of Dr. Harrison S. Hickok, a leading surgeon of Kansas City, Mo., for many years, who was well known by many readers of The Republican. Dr. Hickok was a brother-in-law of Mrs. Frank F. Petry of Salisbury and the late Dr. Bruce Lichty of Meyersdale, his wife having been Miss Mary Lichty, daughter of the late David and Elizabeth (Keim) Lichty of Salisbury. He left a daughter, Mrs. Roy L. Felkner, a son, G. L. Hickok, both of Kansas City; a sister, Mrs. Carrie Rambo, Cambridge, Neb., and four grandchildren. Dr. Harrison S. Hickok, 76 years old, died August 25, in St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minn., after an illness of five weeks. He had practiced surgery in Kansas City thirty years. Born in Wisconsin, Dr. Hickok moved to Carleton, Nebraska with his parents in 1870. He attended Amsterdam Academy, Amsterdam, N.Y., and was graduated from the school of medicine of the University of Nebraska. Later he took a post- graduate course at John Hopkins University. Upon finishing school, Dr. Hickok returned to Carleton, Neb., where he began his practice. He moved to Wichita, Kansas in 1902, remained there until 1915, when he went to Kansas City. He has been a staff member at Trinity Lutheran Hospital there since that time. Meyersdale Republican, August 30, 1945
