(Bell) Higgins, 74, of Orleans, Mass., died Feb. 6, 1997, at Cape Cod Hospital, Hyannis, Mass. Born Jan. 5, 1923, in Somerset, Pa. Later moved from Suffield, Ohio, to Orleans, Mass., in 1981. Survived by husband, Leslie G. Higgins, Orleans; son, Marc E. Higgins of Uniontown, Ohio; daughters, Jill E. Tonsic of Akron, Ohio, and Linnell Reed of Tallmadge, Ohio. Five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Graduate of Akron Ohio High School and a 1943 graduate of Kent State University with degree in journalism. Retired county editor of the Record Courier in Ravenna, Ohio, in 1979 after 18 years. Member of the Cooperative Extension from University of Massachusetts Master Gardener Program; volunteer at Brewster Manor Nursing Home. Hobbies included gardening, boating, traveling and playing bridge. Private service was held Feb. 9 at Nickerson Funeral Home, Orleans.
