He had worked as usual last week and had planned to go to Bayard, W.Va., Sunday morning to visit relatives. Complaining of not feeling well, he returned to bed and died a few hours later. Mr. Hill was employed by the C. and P. Telephone Co. in Cumberland as wire chief. He received his twenty-year service pin last week. A native of Bayard, W.Va., he was born July 7, 1903. His father was the late Charles Hill of Bayard. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Florence Hill Spencer of Bayard, his widow, Mrs. Mildred Allen Hill, and one son by a former marriage, Richard Hill, now serving with the U.S. Army in the Hawaiian Islands. He was a member of the Federation of Telephone Workers and a member of the Bayard Methodist Church. Mrs. Hill is the youngest daughter of the late Oscar Allen and Mrs. Allen of Meyersdale. Mr. and Mrs. Hill would have celebrated their fifth anniversary of a very happy marriage on March 22. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, 2 p.m., by Rev. R. M. Dunkleberger, D.D., of Meyersdale. Interment was in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Cumberland. The committal services were conducted in the chapel at the cemetery while the chapel chimes played "Face to Face." Officials of the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Co. from New York, Baltimore, Washington and Eastern Shore attended the funeral rites, and 14 acted as honorary pallbearers. Mr. Hill was held in very high esteem by officials of the company for which he worked since a young man. Others who attended the funeral were Mrs. George Benford, Miss Lydia Beal, Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Donges, Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Donges, Clay Donges, Rev. and Mrs. R. H. Dunkleberger of Meyersdale; Mrs. Rose Donges, Friedens, Mr. and Mrs. Kirk Brant of Somerset and Miss Emily May Brant, Pittsburgh.
