Hillegas, 82, of West Fairview Street, Somerset, died July 9, 1986, at Arbutus Park Manor, Johnstown. Born July 20, 1903, in Boynton, son of the late George Henry and Mary Elizabeth (May) Hillegas. Preceded in death by first wife, Edna (Bowman) Hillegas; a son, Charles Clyde; two brothers, Jesse and Marcus. Survived by his wife, the former Dorothy E. Herbert, and these children: Robert C., Howard, Ohio; H. Jay, Stoystown RD 1; Ms. Sherry L. Hillegas, Baltimore, Md.; and David W., Stoystown RD 3; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Brother of Stanford, and Edward, both of Boynton; and Mrs. Mary Couchenour of Vincennes, Ind.; Russell of Atlanta, Ga. Retired as coal miner for Ponfeigh Coal Co., and former auto salesman for Bruckman Olds of Somerset. Member of First United Methodist Church and U.M.W.A. Local 1875 of Garrett. Friends were received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, where service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. the Rev. Elias Kessler and the Rev. H. Carl Buterbaugh officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park. Daily American July 11, 1986 [H1087]
