Hillegas, 75, Berlin, died April 14, 2001 at Somerset Hospital. Born Jan. 12, 1926 in Johnstown, son of Clarence and Emma (Imgrund) Hillegas. Preceded in death by parents and first wife, Ruth Marie (Hillegas). Survived by wife, Ruth N. (Jury) Hillegas; sons, Barry, married to the former Susan Gooden, Denver, Colo.; Tom, married to the former Nancy Thom, Bridgeport, W.Va.; stepsons, Michael, married to the former Bonnie Figge, Wilson, N.C.; David, married to the former Joanna Wagner, Hollsopple; step-daughter, Patricia, married to Mark Goodson, Callaway, Va.; 4 grandchildren; 7 stepgrandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Hillegas, Cumberland, Md.; Grace Badgley, Parkersburg, W.Va.; and Mariann Mikula, Spring Grove. He was a self-employed bricklayer, farmer, and was a tunnel guard for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission. Graduate of Berlin Brothersvalley High School, class of 1944, and an Army veteran of World War II. Member of Trinity United Church of Christ, the Last Man's club, and the VFW, all of Berlin, Meyersdale Lodge 554 F.&A.M. and the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftsman. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday with Rev. Melvin A. Kirk Jr., Rev. Ralph G. Landis officiating. Interment, Schellsburg Cemetery with graveside military Rite by Berlin American Legion and VFW. Memorial contributions may be sent to Trinity United Church of Christ, P.O.
