Hillegass, 63, Shanksville, died Sept. 27, 1984, in Bedford County, as a result of a farm tractor mishap. Born Dec. 27, 1920, in Bedford County, son of the late Harry C. and Emma (Fair) Hillegass. Survived by widow, the former Mary McNeal. His death ends a marriage union of 43 years. Also survived by two sons: Richard B., married to the former Tanis Bentz, Woodbridge, Va.; James A., at home; grandchildren, Brian Richard and Melissa. Brother of Mrs. Mabel Wertz, Manns Choice RD; Lee, Martinsburg, Pa.; and Stanley, Bedford. Retired electrical contractor. U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. Member of Shanksville United Methodist Church, where he was a trustee and former Sunday School Superintendent. Former member Shanksville-Stonycreek School Board. Friends received from 7-9 p.m. Friday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg, where service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, with the Revs. Charles Shetler and Michael Holt officiating.
