Born Oct. 7, 1904, in Berlin, son of Luther J. and Mary (Glessner) Hillegass. Preceded in death by parents; brothers - Robert, Howard, John, George, Harry, Ross, Alvin and Evan - and sisters, Nellie Landis and Etta Lambert. Survived by widow, former Amelia Livingston, and these children: La Rue, wife of Donald Dahlberg, North Palm Beach, Fla., and Dr. Ronald C., married to former Margaret May, Barrington, R.I.; also five grandchildren - Susan and Donald Dahlberg and Carl, Kent and Michael Hillegass, Greenville. Member of St. John's United Church of Christ and Men's Bible Class, where he was former deacon and elder for church. Member of Cambria Lodge 278, F. & A.M.; Cambria Council 32, R. & S.M.; Chapter 195, Portage Royal Arch; Knights Templar 61; Jaffa Temple; Valley of Altoona Consistory; York Rite College 34; Johnstown Lions Club; and Johnstown Retired Teachers Club. Retired principal of 46 years, last serving Goucher Street Elementary School. Auditor in Upper Yoder Township for 40 years and chairman of Upper Yoder Township School Building Authority at time of death. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at John Henderson Co. Funeral Home. Service at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John's United Church of Christ, Somerset Street, the Rev. Mark Dewald. Interment, Berkey Cemetery. Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. Friday. In lieu of flowers, in remembrance friends may contribute to Lester C.
