  HILLIARD
  
  Verna Pearl Hilliard, 68, Confluence, died April 4, 1988, in Somerset
  Community Hospital.  Born June 19, 1919, in Confluence, daughter of the
  late John and Ada (Porterfield) Thomas.  Preceded in death by her husband,
  Scott, a son, Ronald, two brothers and a sister.  Survived by the following
  children: Raymond, Garret; Martin, Confluence; Clyde, West Springfield, Va.;
  Keith, Falls Church, Va.; James, Kensington, Md.; Ida Kay Thompson,
  Confluence; Ada Fay Shaffer, Ursina; Dennis, Confluence, Denise Foy,
  Berlin; Wanda Jean Hause, Somerset; and Sharon, Roxbury; 29 grandchildren,
  five great-grandchildren.  Brother, James Thomas, Point Marion, Pa.;
  half-brother, Carl Hiles, Vine Grove, Ky.; and a half-sister, Catherine
  Sproul, Ohiopyle.  Member of the Calvary Community Church of Confluence. 
  Friends will be received 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. until 9 p.m.
  Wednesday at the Humbert Funeral Home in Confluence, where services will be
  held Thursday at 1:30 p.m., with the Rev. Gary Anderson officiating. 
  Interment, Maple Summit Cemetery.
