Born March 14, 1916, in Wilmerding. Son of the late Martin William and Marie Frances (Maran) Hilt. Also preceded in death by a sister, Esther Kukic. Survived by his wife of 43 years, the former Phyllis Maust, whom he married Oct. 30, 1953; 2 sons: Martin M. and wife Jane P., Crofton, Md.; David A. and wife Trudy P., Salisbury; 3 grandchildren: Sara, Stephanie and Michael Hilt. Member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Served as Sunday school teacher, choir member and director for many years. A 1951 graduate of Duquesne University with a B.S. in music. Employed as a music teacher for Salisbury-Elk Lick High School for 41 years. Also past president of Salisbury Borough Council for 20 years. A veteran of World War II. Served as Motor Machinist's Mate 2/C with U.S. Navy. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Newman Funeral Home Inc., Salisbury. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. David E. Fetter officiating. Interment, Salisbury Cemetery.
