Born Aug. 29, 1889, in Ararat, a daughter of the late Amos J. and Dora (Beaumont) Avery. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Ben E.; brothers, Berton, Chauncey, and Edward Avery; and two sisters, Nina Buchanan and Hilah Lamb. Survived by one son, Quentin A., Somerset RD 6; two grandchildren: Cathie* Trent, Greensburg; and Edward Hine, Somerset; also three great-grandchildren. Member of the Ararat United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was a retired public schoolteacher in Susquehanna County. She also served as district tax collector there. She was a member of the Gibson Grange and Huron Rebekah Lodge. Friends will be received 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home where service will be conducted at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Harry C. Sherry officiating. Additional rites Friday at 11 a.m. in the Ararat United Methodist Church, Susquehanna County, with the Rev. Richard Gaustad officiating. Interment, Gelatt Cemetery.
