Hines, 74, of Meyersdale died May 8, 1978 at the Meyersdale Community Hospital. Born Dec. 9, 1903 in East Mauch Chunk, Pa., he was a son of the late Harry and Hattie (Thomas) Hines. He was preceded in death by first wife, Irene Blume. He is survived by his widow, Esther Austin, and daughter, Mrs. Jane Taylor of Elizabethtown; also two granddaughters and a brother, Harry of Santee, Calif. He was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ at York; member of the F&AM Lodge 266, York; Harrisburg Consistory; York Commandery No. 21; Howel Loyal Lodge, Chapter 199, Knight Templar; Tall Cedars of Lebanon, No. 30; member of Jaffa Shrine of Altoona; retired employee of the American Chain and Cable Company as Personnel Director of Management. Friends were received in the Leckemby Funeral Home in Meyersdale Tuesday and on Wednesday in the Everhart Funeral Home, York, where services were conducted with the Rev. Benjamin Griffin officiating.
