HITTIE Inalee Gertrude Hittie, 75, New Freedom, died November 19, 1981, at her home. She was born March 8, 1906, in Greenville Twp., Somerset County, daughter of the late Calvin and Ada (Petenbrink) Bittner. She was the wife of the late Robert E. Hittie. She is survived by eight children: Robert C. of New Freedom; Annabelle H. Nace of New Freedom; Lester W. of Red Line; Geraldine R. Tipton of Parma, Ohio; Helen A. Laughman of Red Line; Gladysmae N. Keeney of York; Melva Gayle Collier of York; David L. of Carlisle; 21 grandchildren; a sister, Mildred Sass of Franklin; brothers, Clinton Bittner and Wilbert Bittner, both of Meyersdale. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, New Freedom, and Ladies Auxiliary of Lutheran Church Women. She was employed by the former M&R Garment Co. and later by Summers Tannery, New Freedom, until she retired in 1971. Friends were received at the J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 2nd at Franklin St., New Freedom. Services were held at St. Johns Lutheran Church, New Freedom. Interment, New Freedom Cemetery. The Republic, November 26, 1981 [H1197]
