HOBLITZELL Mrs. Ida Hoblitzell, widow of George M. Hoblitzell, passed away Saturday, Dec. 26, at her residence on South Kimberly Avenue, Somerset. Her health had been impaired for several years and her death was not unexpected. Mrs. Hoblitzell was the youngest and last surviving child of the late Major and Mrs. John Knable, prominent Somerset residents for many years. She was born July 25, 1862, and became the wife of George M. Hoblitzell, of Meyersdale, October 12, 1883. The young couple located in Hyndman, where Mr. Hoblitzell was engaged in the general mercantile business until the time of his death in 1903. One child, Walter Knable Hoblitzell, was born to them. Following the death of her husband, Mrs. Hoblitzell, with her young son, returned to Somerset and continuously resided there ever since. Surviving relatives are two grandchildren, Ida Belle and George M. Hoblitzell, of Cumberland, Md.; two nieces, Mrs. Louise Colborn Mason and Mrs. Eleanor Colborn DeLong, both of Somerset, and two nephews, John P. Knable, of Washington, D.C., and Elkins Knable, of Pittsburgh. A brother, John P. Knable, died a few weeks ago at his home in Pittsburgh. Mrs. Hoblitzell was for 55 years a faithful member of the First Christian Church of Somerset and her passing leaves a vacancy in the official board of that organization. Funeral services were conducted at her late home at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, in charge of her pastor, Rev. J. F. Messenger. Burial in the Somerset Union Cemetery, in charge of Undertaker Charles R. Hauger. Meyersdale Republican, December 31, 1931
