Hochstetler, aged 59, Justice of the Peace of Ohiopyle for the past 12 years, died at 1 o'clock Thursday afternoon, June 6, after an illness following a heart attack. He had not been bedfast, however, and had conducted his business at his general store on Wednesday. He was born Feb. 11, 1881, in Larimer Township, the son of the late Samuel and Anna Belle (Snyder) Hochstetler of Meyersdale. After graduating from the Meyersdale Business College, he worked for the Cambria Steel Co., as bookkeeper for three years and was also superintendent of the Kendal Lumber Company for 13 years. Later he was superintendent of East Fayette Coal Co. of Ohiopyle for 4 years, and at the time of his death was conducting a restaurant and gasoline station known as Falls View. He was a life member of King Solomon Lodge, No. 346, F. & A.M. of Connellsville and Lodge of Perfection of Uniontown. He belonged to the Ohiopyle Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Harriet Robinson Hochstetler; three children, Mrs. James NcNichol, of Arlington, Va., James and Helen, both at home, and one granddaughter, Carol Brenda McNichol. A son, Fred, preceded him in death eight years ago. The funeral services were held Sunday, June 9, at 2 p.m. in the Baptist Church. The body was taken to the church at 1 o'clock to lie in state. Masonic ritual services were conducted at the grave. Burial was made in the Addison Cemetery, conducted by funeral director Milton Munk. Meyersdale Republican, June 13, 1940
