Hockenberry, 89, formerly of Salisbury, died Nov. 4, 1998, at Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville, Md. Born March 16, 1909 in Salisbury, daughter of the late Herbert and Mary (Wagner) Smalley. Preceded in death by husband, Loyal D. Hockenberry, Dec. 21, 1980, 2 brothers, Daniel in March 1998, and Clarence in October 1998, and a sister, Mary Robinette, October 1998. Survived by 7 nieces, 4 nephews and numerous great-nieces and nephews. Member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Salisbury. Retired school teacher in the Somerset County School System. She received her bachelor of science degree from California State Teacher's College and a master's degree from Slippery Rock State Teacher's College. She was a member of Springs Historical Society, National Audobon Society, Western Penna. Conservancy and Salisbury Firemen's Auxiliary. Friends received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Newman Funeral Homes, Grantsville, Md., where service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Raymond Brown officiating.
