Born July 7, 1918, in Lincoln Township. Son of Moses Franklin and Edithe Pearl (Maust) Hoffman. Preceded in death by parents and foster brother Clarence Emert. Survived by wife, former Pauline Ferne Brant, to whom he would have been married 58 years on Valentine's Day, and children: Mrs. Vernon (Elaine) Spangler of Sipesville; Ernest P. Hoffman, married to the former W. Jean Johnson of Somerset; Mrs. Lawrence J. (Jeanne) Nemanic of Somerset. Grandchildren: Mrs. R. Paul (Susan) Smith, Somerset; Bradley A. Hoffman married to the former Kimberly Landis, Somerset; Eric P. Hoffman married to the former Kelly Nedrow, Somerset, and Tara, Christina and Ryan Nemanic, and Ms. LuAnn Spangler. Great-grandchildren, Kassandra Smith and Kaitlyn, Hunter and Tanner Hoffman. Brother of Mrs. William (Dorothy "Dottie") Spencer of Somerset. Also nephew, Randy B. Spencer, Charleston, S.C. Member of the Sipesville Church of the Brethren where he was a lifetime Deacon. Retired Lincoln Township dairy farmer. Former Lincoln Township supervisor for 24 years. Member of the Pennsylvania Farmers Association. Board of directors of the Somerset County Historical and Genealogical Society. Member of the Sipesville Volunteer Fire Co. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset. There will be a viewing from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Thursday the hour of service at the Sipesville Church of the Brethren, Sipesville, with the Rev. Danny R. Bailey officiating. Interment, Sipesville Cemetery.
