  HOFFMAN
     
     Elbert E. Hoffman, 89, of Somerset RD 7, went home to be with the Lord on
  Sept. 5, 1996, at his residence.  Born April 10, 1907, in Brothersvalley
  Township, son of the late Elmer E. and Jenny (Fisher) Hoffman.  Preceded in
  death by wife, the former Milda Miller, in 1994, and a son, Fred.  Survived
  by these children: Esther DeVine, Mrs. Calvin (Asenath) Sipe and Neil
  Hoffman, married to the former Sandra Geary, all of Somerset RD 7; Betty
  Pacific of Dearborn Heights, Mich.; Charles Hoffman, married to the former
  Charlene Shimdt, of Portland, Ore., and Mrs. James (Linda) Coleman of
  Washington, Pa.; also 24 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and the
  following brothers: Kenneth Hoffman, Paul Hoffman and Eugene Hoffman, all
  of Somerset, and Perry Hoffman, Rockwood; sisters: Leora Kelly of Somerset
  and Rosie Ash of Texas; two half-sisters: Hazel B. Weigley of Somerset and
  Ruby Miller of Somerset, and a half-brother, Roger Hoffman of Erie.  Also
  preceded in death by brothers: Harrison, Ralph, Elmer, Clarence and Cleo
  Hoffman and sister, Marion Walker. Lifelong member of Sipesville Church of
  the Brethren. Coal miner and 40 year member of UMWA.  Also worked 10 years
  for the Shaffer Block Plant in Somerset.  Friends will be received from 2 to
  9 p.m. Friday at the Wilbur D. Miller Funeral Home, Somerset.  Funeral
  service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Sipesville Church of
  the Brethren, Rev. Danny Bailey officiating.  Interment, Sipesville
  Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be given to the Sipesville Church of
  the Brethren or In Touch Hospice in care of Somerset Hospital.  Viewing of
  the remains at the church one hour prior to funeral service.
