Hoffman, 69, Central City, died Oct. 7, 2001 at Memorial Medical Center. Born Dec 8, 1931, in Johnstown, the son of Frederick and Gertrude Hoffman. Preceded in death by parents and brothers, Fred and William. Survived by his wife of 46 years, the former Nancy Barker and these children: Diane, wife of Frank Rypczyk Jr., Central City; James, married to the former Barbara Yoder, Somerset; Jay, married to the former Joani Suckenic, Central City; Sandra, wife of John Swartzwelder, Schellsburg; Donald, married to the former Gwen Saylor, Central City; and David, married to the former Toni Tressler, Listie. Also survived by grandchildren, John Karl, Brittany, Melissa, Frank, Lindsay, Jamie, Brad, Brianna and Jason; and sisters, Ann Fisher, Helene Hoffman, Mary Lou Penatzer and Irene Gyan. U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and recipient of the Bronze Star. Retired millwright with 44 years service at Bethlehem Steel. Member of Central City American Legion and VFW Posts, an avid sportsman and lifelong member of the NRA. Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Mulcahy Funeral Home, Central City, where vigil for the deceased will be held Wednesday morning. Funeral mass will be celebrated at noon, Wednesday at Our Lady Queen of Angels Chapel. Rev. Fr. William Mullen. Committal, St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
