A bed-ridden invalid for several years, it became necessary to remove Mrs. Hoffman from her home on Meyers Ave. May 31, 1946, following the death of her sister, Miss Mary Hocking, and through arrangements made by her devoted son, Lee, who is himself an invalid suffering from arthritis, she was taken into the home of Mrs. Durst who gave her tender and efficient care through many months of suffering. Mrs. Hoffman was born in Clarksburg, W.Va., a daughter of John T. and Sally Taylor Oats Hocking, who later came to Meyersdale and became a prominent family here. Mrs. Hoffman's husband, R. Frank Hoffman, died many years ago. She is survived by one son, Lee Hoffman, hotel man of Cresson. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 1:30 at the Price Funeral Home, with Rev. Floyd Gotjen, pastor of the First Methodist Church officiating. Interment in Union Cemetery. Relatives who attended the funeral were Mrs. Asbury Lee of Clearfield, Mr. and Mrs. Shimer of Bedford and "Bud" Hocking of Frostburg. Meyersdale Republican, May 22, 1947
