   Bernice F. Hogsten, 94, Somerset, passed away May 19, 2008, at Somerset Hospital. Born
  June 4, 1913, in Russell, Ky., the daughter of the late John and Violet Rice. She is
  preceded in death by husband, Harold Hogsten; son, Dr. Gary Hogsten; and brother, Eugene
  Rice. Survived by daughter, Kay Rose and husband, Carl, Somerset, with whom she resided;
  grandchildren, Michael Rose and wife, Margie, New York; Edward Rose and wife, Nancy
  (Meyer), Jeff Rose and wife, Debbie (Witt), all of Somerset; Scott Hogsten and wife,
  Kelley, Grove City, Ohio; and Jana LaFlair, Kennesaw, Ga.; foster grandson, Tim Lenhart
  and wife, Lisa and children, Whitney and Andrew, all of Meyersdale; great-
  grandchildren, Miranda Rose, Virginia; Tara Rose, New York; Erin Bean and husband, John,
  Pittsburgh; Angela Higgins, South Carolina; Alix and Hannah Rose, Somerset; Seth and
  Sean Rose, Somerset; Tommy and Katie Hogsten, Grove City, Ohio; and Ava LaFlair,
  Georgia. Also survived by sister, Maxine Cox, Ashland, Ky.; daughter-in-law, Jeanette
  Hogsten, Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bernice attended St. Paul's United
  Church of Christ. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, who visited
  often. She loved hearing about all of their activities and achievements. Her special
  companion was her cat, Fluffy. Bernice will be returned to her previous home in
  Ironton, Ohio, where graveside service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can
  be made to the Children's Aid Home, Somerset. Arrangements in charge of Miller Funeral
  Homes.
