Hollada, a well-known farmer and highly respected citizen of the Maple Glen community, Elk Lick Township, died in the Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md., Jan. 29, 1942, at the age of 57 years. His death was caused by acute yellow atrophy of the liver, a condition from which he was acutely ill for four weeks. He was a son of the late Zenas and Priscilla (Burkholder) Hollada, and is survived by his wife, Mrs. Olive (King) Hollada, and these children: Beulah, wife of Dewey Shoemaker of Maple Glen; Carl, residing in Ohio; Edgar of Baltimore, Md.; Charles, Donald, Walter, Robert, Wanda and Lola, all at home. He is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: Marshall of Maple Glen; Russell of Casselman, Md.; Mrs. S. J. Davis, of Somerset; Della, wife of John Davis, and Mary, wife of Daniel King, both of Springs. Funeral services were held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Shoemaker, last Saturday at 2:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. A. Jay Replogle, of the Church of the Brethren, assisted by Minister Roy Otto of Springs. Interment was in the cemetery near the Maple Glen Church of the Brethren, under the direction of Mortician Stanley M. Thomas of Salisbury. The funeral services would have been held at the home of Mr. Hollada, had it not been for the fact that the home was under quarantine on account of scarlet fever among the bereaved children, who are still at home. Mrs. Hollada was given permission by a health officer to take a farewell look at the form of her beloved husband in the cemetery, before his body was lowered into his grave, and after the burial rites.
