Roland "Don" Hollada, Sr., 81, of Kirtland, Ohio, died July 11, 1997, at his home. Born Aug. 24, 1915, in Savage, Pa., Mr. Hollada was the son of the late Milton J. and Olive M. Hollada. He was also preceded in death by brothers: Edgar M. and Charles Z.; and infant sister, Leota A.; and a sister, Beulah W. Shumaker. Mr. Hollada was a 37-year resident of Kirtland, Ohio; and a former resident of Willoughby, Ohio. He was a mill wright for the former Euclid, Inc., retiring in 1977 after 15 years of service. A World War II Army veteran, serving as a technical sergeant, Mr. Hollada was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a life member of the Willoughby VFW Post 1500; a life member and past commander of the American Legion Palmer Roberts Post 214 in Willoughby; and a member of the Polar Bear Association of the Veterans of World War II. Mr. Hollada is survived by his wife, the former Ruth N. Maust; sons: Roland D. "Butch," Dale E., Mel N. and Clark G.; a daughter, Karen R. Kog; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers: Carl W., Walter C. and Robert E.; and sisters: Wanda L. Kretchman and Lola J. Showalter. Services were held at the Maple Glen Church, Fort Hill, July 15. Interment, Maple Glen Cemetery, Fort Hill.
