Holliday, 88, of Confluence, RD 3, died Monday, May 30, at her home, after a lingering illness. She was born September 7, 1860, in Addison Township, the daughter of John and Lueinda (Silbaugh) Gower. She is survived by the following children: Edward and Russel, Confluence, RD 3; Scott and Arthur, Confluence; Clarence, Fort Hill; Alma, Listonburg, and Myrtle, at home; and by 31 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, James and Sherman Gower of Confluence RD 3, and a sister, Mrs. Amanda Jensen of Story City, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elijah Holliday, and one son, Judson. Three children died in infancy. Friends were received at the Black Funeral Home, Confluence, until Thursday at 2 o'clock, when the funeral cortege went to the Silbaugh M.E. Church, where services were conducted at 2:30, with the Rev. R. C. Hitchcock officiating. Interment was made in the Silbaugh Cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, June 9, 1949
