Holtzopple, wife of Victor Holtzopple, died very suddenly in her home in Johnstown, Saturday evening, Dec. 16, at 9:30, while helping her husband trim a Christmas tree. She was 37 years old and was the daughter of Mrs. C. E. Van Order of Berlin. Besides her husband and mother she is survived by a young son, Tommy, and a sister, Mary Van Order Austin, of Somerset. Mrs. Holtzopple was a graduate of Berlin High School and before her marriage was an efficient linotype operator at the Berlin Publishing Co. for 16 years. In her girlhood she was very active in the young people's department of the Berlin Brethren Church and for a number of years was patroness of the Sisterhood of Mary and Martha. She held offices in the State and National C. E. organizations. She was a member of the Berlin Rebekah Lodge. After her marriage she took an active part in the Rebekah Lodge in Moxham, and in church and community affairs. She was also a member of the Geistown Farm Women's Society, and of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Riverside Firemen. Her untimely death at the beginning of the Christmas season is greatly mourned by many friends. Funeral services were held at the home of her mother on Cumberland Street, Berlin, Tuesday, at 2:30 p.m., with Rev. George L. Menhorn of the Moxham Lutheran Church and Rev. S. M. Whetstone of the Berlin Brethren Church officiating. Interment in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Son. Meyersdale Republican, December 21, 1944
