Hook Sr., 63, of 119 Walnut Lane, West Newton, died Aug. 27, 1981, in Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. He was born March 3, 1918, in Meyersdale, a son of the late Charles and Amanda Swearman Hook. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Hook. Surviving are his wife, Emma Krizner Hook; two daughters, Karen Peto of West Newton and Sheryl Gadani of Canonsburg; two sons, Paul Hook Jr. and Charles Hook, both of West Newton; two sisters, Clara Knieriem of Johnstown and Mary Houston of Meyersdale; two brothers, Fred Hook of Belle Vernon and Woodrow Hook of Hanford, Calif.; and five grandchildren. He was a retired employee of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Monessen, and was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Blyth Masonic Lodge No. 593, West Newton; the Consistory, Pittsburgh; the Ukrainian Club, Monessen; the Slovenic Singing Society, Collinsburg; and the United Steel Workers of America. Funeral services were held in the William McCauley Funeral Home with the Rev. Arthur R. Day Jr. officiating. Interment West Newton Cemetery. The Republic, September 3, 1981 [H1476]
