Hoover, 95, Somerset, passed on July 6, 2008, at Somerset Hospital. Born Dec. 12, 1912, in Brothersvalley Township, the son of the late Elijah and Mary (Cook) Hoover. He is also preceded in death by his brothers, Frank and Paul Hoover; and sisters, Florence Kelly, Esther Pletcher and Pearl Rubright. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Virginia (Hoffman) Hoover; son, Larry Hoover and wife, Linda, Somerset; grandson, Barry Hoover and wife, Wanda, Shanksville; and step-great-grandchildren, Jason, Heather, Tiffany and Ethan Kountz. He worked as a coal miner for 20 years in the Acosta area and upon retirement, became a part-owner of Somerset Door and Column Co. He later went on to found Village Lumber Co. in Somerset Township. He was a member of the Somerset Lions Club and loved to play golf with his friends. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Somerset. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, Somerset. A service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev.
