Hoover, 84, of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of Somerset, died Jan. 16, 1984, at East Manor Nursing Home, Sarasota, Fla. He was born July 22, 1899, in Meyersdale, son of the late Isah and Cordelia Hoover. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mata, in 1974; one sister, Agnes; and three half-brothers. He is survived by four daughters: Mrs. Dorothy Meyers of Meyersdale; Mrs. Thelma Nicholson, Cumberland, Md.; Mrs. Evelyn Glessner and Mrs. June Younkin, both of Sarasota, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Jennie Trimpey of Jenners; three half-sisters: Mrs. Minerva Henratty, New Castle, Del.; Mrs. Arlene Hetz, and Mrs. Edna White, both of Meyersdale; two half-brothers: Freeman Schrock of Sarasota, Fla.; and Glen Hoover of Meyersdale. He was a member of Somerset Church of the Brethren; retired coal miner by occupation. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Wilbur D. Miller Funeral Home where funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Roger Forry officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.
