Hoppert, 94, Berlin, died Jan. 11, 2000, at Meyersdale Manor. Born June 15, 1905, in Fairhope, daughter of Samuel and Clara (Kennell) Custer. Preceded in death by parents, husband, Carl, son, Robert, and brothers: Russell, John, Melvin, Leonard and Kenneth Custer. Survived by these children: Henry Jay, married to the former Edna Miller, Johnstown; Charlotte, married to Bert Miller, Berlin; Fred, married to the former Phyllis Smith, Central City; and William, married to the former Judith Alter, Corrigansville, Md.; and daughter-in-law, Helen Hoppert, Bowling Green, Md.; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was a sister of Helen Miller, Somerset; Evelyn Baughman, Berlin, Faye Saylor, Virginia; and Leona Miller, Jerome. Member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Roxbury; and was a former member of Central City OES. Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Walter Martin and the Rev. Ralph Landis officiating.
