Born Feb. 23, 1900 in Conemaugh, daughter of Michael and Julia (Dzury) Kovalchik. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Roman; infants Steve and Mary; brothers, Frank, John, Joe, Mike and Steve, and sisters, Eva Shepish, Katie Protinick and Anna Roman. Survived by daughters, Anna wife of the late Duane Eadler and Helen wife of the late George Pokrificak; sisters Julia Cost and Helen Morgenstern and brother Pete Kovalik; five grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Because of the untimely death of the son-in-law George Pokrifcak on Feb. 3, 2001 only private services were held. Mary was a former member of the SS. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church of Jerome where she lived with her husband Roman and daughters Anna and Helen until their move to East Chicago, Ind. in 1941. Also former member of St. Basil's Byzantine Catholic Church of East Chicago and was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church of Munster, Ind. where Msgr. Frank Korba is pastor.
