Horchner, 81, a well known citizen of Meyersdale passed away at his home on High Street, Sunday morning, September 14, 1941, after a lingering illness of some years. Mr. Horchner was a contractor and carpenter in this section for a number of years. Prior to coming to Meyersdale he resided in Larimer Township, where he served a number of years as a member of the Board of Education. Mr. Horchner was born in Germany on March 19, 1860, a son of Christian and Mary (Kyle) Horchner. He came to America when a young man. He was a member of the Lutheran Church and held membership in the F. & A. M. Royal Arch Chapter, Knights Templar. The deceased was married three times, his first two wives having preceded him in death. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Nellie (Carpenter) Horchner, and these children: Mrs. Henry Tressler, Fairhope; Andrew Horchner, Jr., Meyersdale; Carl W. and Raymond Horchner, both of Hagerstown, Md.; Naomi Horchner, York, and Robert Horchner, at home. He also leaves eight grandchildren and five great- grandchildren. A brother, Augustus Horchner, lives in New York City. Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Horchner home by Rev. H. K. Hilner, pastor of the Zion Lutheran Church. Interment was in Union Cemetery under the direction of W. C. Price & Son, local morticians. Members of the Masonic order were also in charge of the services. Meyersdale Republican, September 18, 1941
